Caitlin Clark, fresh off being the No. 1 pick in this year’s eagerly awaited WNBA draft, is currently gearing up with the Indiana Fever for the league’s season opener on May 14.
The two-time NCAA women’s basketball player of the year, who made waves at the University of Iowa, recently showcased her impressive skills in a series of practice photos on Instagram, wearing her new dark blue jersey—which notably sold out within hours of her draft announcement.
At 22, Clark is already making a significant impact.
She dazzled during her WNBA preseason debut on May 3 in a sold-out exhibition game against the Dallas Wings. Despite the Fever’s narrow loss of 79-76, Clark was a standout, scoring 16 points in the first half and finishing the game with a total of 21 points, tying for the game high with rookie Jaelyn Brown from the opposing team.
Clark shared the dynamic practice photos with her 2.2 million Instagram followers, captioning the post “new job?????” and giving a shoutout to photographer Bri Lewerke. In the final image of the series, she was captured signing autographs and interacting warmly with fans, all sporting her No. 22 jersey.
The post received enthusiastic responses from her audience, including a supportive comment from her boyfriend Connor McCaffery who wrote, “Big fan!” Others chimed in with praises like “Generational,” from Tanner Arnold, and Sydney Affolter expressing nostalgia with, “We be missin you???.” Kennise Johnson added a heartfelt plea, “Don’t forget to come visit ?,” and a fan declared, “DIFF LOCATION SAME GOAT ????,” highlighting Clark’s consistent excellence despite the new setting.
