Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever narrowly missed securing their first win of the WNBA season, falling to the Seattle Storm 85-83 in a packed Seattle arena Wednesday night.
Clark, the top pick in last month’s draft, led her team with 21 points, and also added seven rebounds and seven assists, marking perhaps her strongest performance as a professional so far.
Despite the close loss, which brought the Fever’s record to 0-5 for the 2024 season, Clark showcased her leadership during a post-game press conference. She discussed the team’s ongoing efforts to clinch their first victory and the small adjustments needed to turn their fortunes around.
“It’s just that close. There are many moments when reviewing the game footage where you see small, fixable errors that could make a significant difference—perhaps even deciding the game,” Clark said. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive outlook, especially given the team’s current standing. “Being frustrated won’t help us. We need to keep our spirits up, stay motivated, and build on the positives from tonight. Our first win isn’t far off.”
