The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team, led by Caitlin Clark, has enjoyed a remarkable season thus far.
Clark achieved the milestone of becoming the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer earlier in the campaign. Last weekend, Iowa clinched victory in the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament for the third consecutive year.
Despite these successes, the Hawkeyes remain focused on their ultimate goal.
As the 2024 NCAA Tournament approaches, Clark emphasized her gratitude for the journey she’s experienced over her four years at Iowa. She reflected on the transition from playing in empty arenas during the COVID era to now performing in front of packed crowds, acknowledging the pivotal role of teammates, coaches, and fans in making their achievements possible.
While celebrating their accomplishments, Clark emphasized that the journey is far from over. With the NCAA Tournament on the horizon, Iowa is poised to be a formidable contender, likely securing a top-two seed.

“I think just reflecting back over my four years I’m very grateful, starting playing in front of absolutely no one during COVID and then obviously my sophomore year we had good crowds, the curtains were down a lot of games,” Clark said. “And now it’s impossible to get a ticket to get in the door to our games.
“I think the people that have made it the most special obviously my teammates and my coaches, but it isn’t what it is without all of you, so seriously I mean that. Thank you. This is special. I don’t know if you guys realize what you’re doing for women’s basketball and women’s sports in general, but you’re changing it. You’re helping us change it. So seriously, from the bottom of my heart, from all of us, we thank you so much and I just feel really grateful to be here and have put on an Iowa jersey for four years, but like coach Bluder and Kate (Martin) said, there’s still so much fun to have, and we’re not done.”
For Clark, the ultimate objective remains winning the championship. As the 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament commences next week, the Hawkeyes are primed to pursue their aspirations with determination and resolve.
