Caitlin Clark made her WNBA debut with the Indiana Fever, showcasing her talents in a preseason matchup against the Dallas Wings.
Despite a narrow loss, the college standout expressed gratitude for the experience, emphasizing the importance of learning and growth.
Scoring 21 points on 6-for-15 shooting, including 5-of-13 from beyond the arc, Clark also contributed with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in 28 minutes of play.
Reflecting on the preseason defeat, Clark remained optimistic, acknowledging the positives while recognizing the learning opportunities it presented. “I think there’s a lot of good to take away from it,” she remarked. “At the same time, it’s a preseason game. Don’t get too disappointed by it, just go back, watch the film, learn from it, and get ready for the next one.”
The electric atmosphere of the game, witnessed by over six thousand fans at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas, left a lasting impression on Clark. She expressed gratitude for the passionate support of women’s basketball fans, underscoring the growth and excitement surrounding the sport.

Transitioning from collegiate to professional basketball, Clark acknowledged the heightened level of talent and physicality in the WNBA. She emphasized the need for relentless effort and focus on every possession, highlighting the competitive nature of the league.
“I think the biggest transition is just the physicality. Everybody’s super physical, it doesn’t always get called, so I would say that’s the biggest thing,” Clark later said. “One through five on every roster that we’re going to play is so, so talented. The talent level, obviously, is very different than in college. Getting used to that. No matter who subs into the game, it’s not really anybody you can ever relax off of. That’s how competitive this league is. People are just too good for that. My biggest goal coming into tonight was to continue to be myself, have fun playing basketball, and be aggressive. I thought that’s what I did. I think a lot to be proud of.”
When asked about her most memorable moment from the night, Clark initially paused before reflecting on the significance of donning the Indiana Fever jersey for the first time in a real game. “I think just the atmosphere, getting to put on your jersey for the first time for a real game is something that’s super special,” she shared. “It’s a big milestone for somebody who’s always dreamed of playing in the WNBA.”
As Clark continues her journey in professional basketball, her debut serves as a milestone in her career, marked by determination, gratitude, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
