The WNBA has initiated charter flights for the 2024 season, with teams like the Indiana Fever and the Minnesota Lynx already experiencing the new travel arrangement.
Chloe Peterson, the Fever reporter for IndyStar, revealed that Indiana, along with the Minnesota Lynx, will be utilizing charter flights to kick off the season.

Peterson highlighted that the New York Liberty, whom the Fever will face in their home opener on Thursday, May 16, will opt for commercial flights for their initial two games of the season, including their trip to Indianapolis.
Fever guard Erica Wheeler captured the experience on video and shared it on her Instagram story, providing fans with a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the team’s charter flight.
The WNBA recently announced a significant development, stating that it would offer full-time charter flights for all teams. According to WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert, all 12 teams will have access to charter flights for every away game, with plans to implement this initiative “as soon as we can logistically get planes in places.”
Prior to this change, teams were only permitted to fly charter under certain circumstances, such as back-to-back games, the Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game, and throughout the playoffs.
Of course, everybody is eagerly awaiting Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever debut on Tuesday as they take on the Connecticut Sun.
It’s good to see Clark and her team enjoying themselves before tomorrow’s season opener.
