Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and his longtime girlfriend, Mariah Riddlesprigger, tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in Greece on Sunday, according to media reports. The couple, who have been together since 2014 and share three children, celebrated their love with a three-day event at the luxurious Costa Navarino resort near Pylos in the Peloponnese.
The wedding festivities kicked off with a white dress party on Friday, followed by a vibrant Nigerian-themed celebration on Saturday, honoring Antetokounmpo’s heritage. The grand finale was the wedding ceremony itself, which took place on Sunday and was a unique blend of Greek Orthodox and Catholic traditions.
Antetokounmpo’s Bucks teammate and close friend, Khris Middleton, stood by his side as the best man. The bond between the two athletes runs deep, as they have been teammates since 2013 when Antetokounmpo was drafted by the Bucks and Middleton was traded to Milwaukee from Detroit. Middleton’s presence as the best man added a special layer of significance to the day.
The wedding was a private affair, with Antetokounmpo and Riddlesprigger going to great lengths to ensure their special day remained intimate and free from media intrusion.
According to the Greek newspaper Proto Thema, all individuals involved in the wedding had to sign confidentiality agreements to maintain the couple’s privacy. “Remarkably, everyone working on the wedding has signed a confidentiality agreement to ensure the couple’s complete privacy,” the newspaper reported.
Despite the secrecy, some details about the star-studded guest list have emerged. Among the 200 guests were some of the biggest names in sports, including Giannis’ former Bucks teammate Jrue Holiday, NBA legend LeBron James, tennis icon Serena Williams, and even Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The presence of such high-profile figures underscored the significance of the event, not just for the couple but also within the wider sports community.
