The Cleveland Browns coaching staff should consider incorporating lessons on proper plane etiquette and displaying class alongside their playbook and physical training.
Recent reports circulating on the internet suggest that the team exhibited little knowledge of either.
According to FlyerTalk, the Cleveland Browns players allegedly left the United Airlines plane in a deplorable state during their charter flight from Greenbriar, West Virginia, to Cleveland.
Well this is a new one. Waiting to board flight 1893 IAD-SFO. Supposed to be departing at 8:39, but there’s little chance of that happening. Apparently the plane was used as a professional sports charter right before our flight and the plane was trashed according to the gate agents. They didn’t say the teams name but the flight went from Greenbriar to CLE as flight 2535 and then came here to IAD as flight 2553. There’s a certain NFL team that plays in Cleveland that was wrapping early training camp at the Greenbriar. I’m sure the airline would rather have the charter biz and let this event pass, but it really shows poorly on the certain NFL team that plays in CLE…

Onboard, the pilot apologized “multiple times saying it was the most disgusting he’s seen a plane in his career.” Special menus with the Cleveland Browns logo were found in seatback pockets. It was further explained that the aircraft was full of “garbage, spilled food and drink everywhere, etc.”
This incident caused a delay for passengers on flight UA1893, which was scheduled to depart from Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia to San Francisco after transporting the team.
Witnesses on flight UA1893 reported that the pilot apologized repeatedly, describing the state of the plane as the most appalling he had witnessed in his career.
The aircraft was reportedly littered with trash, spilled food, and drinks.
The team responsible for this incident was easily identifiable, as flight trackers showed the plane’s journey from Greenbriar (where the Browns were attending training camp) to Cleveland and then to Washington Dulles Airport.
Additionally, special menus featuring the Cleveland Browns logo were discovered in the seatback pockets.
Ultimately, the flight to San Francisco experienced a 36-minute delay at takeoff, but the pilot managed to make up some time during the flight, resulting in a 14-minute delay upon arrival.
The Cleveland Browns will commence their preseason with the Hall of Fame game against the New York Jets on Thursday.
It is hoped that the players will not repeat their embarrassing conduct demonstrated during their previous team flight.
