Instagram has had its fair share of both positive and negative impacts on the world of social media. While it has provided a valuable platform for athletes to engage with their fans, it has also led some athletes into troublesome situations.
One way this has occurred is through the rise of “burner accounts.” If you’re not familiar with the term, a “burner account” is described by Urban Dictionary as follows:
“When people/celebrities use fake accounts and talk in the third person about themselves to criticize individuals they wouldn’t criticize on their real account.”
Another notable social media phenomenon is the infamous Finsta account. “Finsta” stands for “fake Instagram,” and it refers to an account created by a user to share images and engage with others in a more private manner, typically limiting followers to close friends.
Now, it has come to light that one of the most well-known young athletes, Bronny James, is using a Finsta account. Apparently he didn’t try to hard with the username, as you can see below:
You can see a pic of Bronny holding a fake gun for his profile pic on his Finsta. It matches the carpet from a pic in his bedroom.
Like many people his age, Bronny uses his Finsta primarily for browsing and interacting with peers.
Bronny’s Finsta account is also following TikTok sensation Malia Agee, whom we initially spotted on a date night with Bronny in Los Angeles.
This anonymity allows for easier navigation on the web, but it may also prompt Bronny to create a new account given the attention this revelation is likely to generate.
Sorry in advance Bronny.
