The Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders have a long-standing rivalry that traces its roots back to the 1960s, with a total of 127 meetings between them. While there are numerous reasons for the animosity between these two teams, Broncos linebacker Randy Gregory is now adding a unique one to the list.
When asked why he harbors ill feelings toward the Raiders, Gregory pointed to Mark Davis’ haircut as the source of his annoyance.
“I’m not a fan of the Raiders, and you know what really gets to me? Mark Davis’ haircut, it kinda rubs me the wrong way,” explained the Broncos linebacker.
Mark Davis has previously discussed his distinctive hairstyle, emphasizing that he doesn’t invest much effort into maintaining it.
“I just blow dry it, and it ends up looking like this. I don’t really need to comb it,” revealed the Raiders owner during an interview on HBO’s Real Sports. “It’s not my barber’s fault for the hair. I insist on keeping it this way.”
Although Gregory won’t have the opportunity to confront Davis on the field, he can certainly make his presence felt when the two teams face off on Sunday. The 30-year-old linebacker is embarking on his second season with the Broncos, having signed a five-year, $70 million contract as a free agent in March 2022.
In his first year with the Broncos, Gregory’s playing time was limited to just six games due to a knee injury. However, he managed to tally seven quarterback hits and two sacks during the 2022 season.
Sunday’s game will also mark the beginning of the Sean Payton era in Denver.
