The San Francisco 49ers have surged ahead as the frontrunners to win the Super Bowl, and their quarterback, Brock Purdy, has emerged as the top contender for the league MVP title.
Following their impressive victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the 49ers’ odds to win the Super Bowl shortened to 3-1 at ESPN BET, making them the current favorites. The dominant performance against the Eagles solidified their status as the team to beat, according to Adam Pullen, assistant director of trading for Caesars Sportsbook.

Brock Purdy, who passed for 314 yards and four touchdowns in the game, outshining the Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts, was a key factor in the 49ers’ success. Purdy, initially at 9-1 odds for the NFL regular-season MVP, emerged as the favorite at 3-1 in the updated odds. This ascent marks a remarkable turnaround for Purdy, who started the season as a 45-1 long shot and was famously dubbed “Mr. Irrelevant” as the last player selected in the 2022 draft.
Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys closely trails Purdy in MVP odds at +350, followed by Jalen Hurts at +350. Other quarterbacks in contention include Patrick Mahomes (6-1), Lamar Jackson (7-1), and Tua Tagovailoa (9-1).
Notably, Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill has improved to 18-1 odds to win the NFL MVP, the shortest odds for any non-quarterback as of Monday.
Purdy’s success is a testament to his performance and effective utilization of his team’s offensive weapons.
