It seems that forgetting key wardrobe items is becoming a trend among football players, with Patrick Mahomes recently joining the ranks of those who have hilariously failed to fully dress for the occasion.
Following in the footsteps of Jason Kelce, who famously forgot his jeans, Mahomes admitted he “forgot” to put on his padded pants during the Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp.
The amusing incident was captured on video and shared by the NFL team on Instagram this past Wednesday.
The clip quickly went viral, with Mahomes, the three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, both taking to Instagram Stories to laugh at the situation.
In the video, a confused Mahomes can be seen realizing his mistake. “Oh dude, I didn’t put my pants on!” he exclaimed to his teammates, referring to the padded pants that should have been under his practice uniform. Trying to downplay the error, he jokingly asked, “You think anyone notices?”
As Mahomes wandered around, clearly at a loss, he humorously added, “Um … I forgot my pants pads?” He even speculated that perhaps his muscular quads might pass as pants, quipping, “Maybe they’ll think my quads are so big that they look like pants.”
Ultimately, the Chiefs star realized he needed to correct the situation and sheepishly headed off to change, admitting, “I look like an idiot now, dude.”
The light-hearted moment didn’t go unnoticed by Mahomes himself, who shared the video on his Instagram Story, accompanied by a series of laughing emojis. Brittany, who is expecting their third child, also got in on the fun, posting the clip with the caption, “Sorry I’m not there to dress you ? @patrickmahomes.”

The incident brought back memories of a similar wardrobe mishap involving Jason Kelce, the Philadelphia Eagles center, who famously blamed his wife, Kylie Kelce, for forgetting to pack a pair of jeans for the premiere of the “Kelce” documentary in 2023. The mix-up became a running joke, with Jason’s brother, Travis Kelce, humorously asking on their “New Heights” podcast, “Why didn’t Jason bring jeans for Jason?”
Kylie, however, came to the rescue by buying and packing him a pair of khakis for a golf tournament soon after, solidifying her role as the ultimate problem-solver.
Fans were quick to draw parallels between the two incidents, with one commenting on the Chiefs’ post, “Maybe Brittany needs to pack pants for Patrick ? #newheights.” Another joked, “They are with Jason’s jeans!” while a third fan playfully remarked, “Where would the NFL be without @kykelce and @brittanylynne to remind these boys to put on their pants!!!”
Luckily, Brittany was on hand to make sure her husband was properly dressed when they attended a Morgan Wallen concert just last week.
The couple sported matching light blue denim outfits, proving that Brittany has Patrick’s wardrobe under control when it really counts.
With all these wardrobe mishaps, perhaps Kylie and Brittany should consider teaming up to ensure their superstar husbands are always dressed to impress—on and off the field!
