On Sunday, Phoenix Suns shooting guard Bradley Beal became the center of attention for a sideline interaction with his head coach, Frank Vogel.
The incident occurred during a tough Game 4 in the Suns’ first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, where Beal had a challenging game, scoring only nine points on 4/13 shooting in the 122-116 loss at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
The moment that caught viral attention was when Beal, visibly frustrated, dismissed Vogel’s attempt to give him a high five during the third quarter. The next day, Beal clarified to reporters that his reaction was not directed at Vogel but was a result of his own frustration, particularly about being in foul trouble and knowing he was about to be substituted out.
Beal, who had just incurred his fourth foul of the game with 5:52 remaining in the third quarter, explained, “I didn’t see it. I slapped him hard? I was frustrated with fouls and I knew I was coming out. It was nothing against coach. I’m sorry, that probably did look bad. I was more frustrated with myself for being in foul trouble.”

In addition to the sideline incident, Beal has faced some online ridicule for other reasons, including a misinterpreted viral quote.
It’s going to be a long offseason for Beal and his Suns teammates.
