Mike Tyson experienced a medical emergency while on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, as reported by In Touch on Monday, May 27.
Paramedics were called to the scene immediately after the plane landed at Los Angeles International Airport.
“An announcement was made during the flight requesting medical assistance from a doctor, and it was displayed on everyone’s screens,” an eyewitness told the magazine. The incident reportedly caused a two-hour delay for the flight.
The 57-year-old former heavyweight champion is preparing for a scheduled fight against influencer Jake Paul. The event is set to be broadcast live on Netflix on July 20 from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fighters recently appeared at a press conference to promote the upcoming bout.
“Mike wanted this to be a pro fight. He’s looking for a battle, and I respect his decision to try and take me down,” Paul commented on May 13. Tyson, praised Paul initially, but also issued a stern warning: “I really like Jake a lot, but once we’re in the ring, he needs to fight as if his life depends on it—because it will.”

The fight, sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR), will feature eight two-minute rounds, with both fighters wearing 14-ounce gloves and no headgear.
Tyson, often regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in history, had a professional boxing career from 1985 to 2005. Paul began his boxing career in 2018 after achieving fame on social media.
Since retiring from professional boxing, Tyson has appeared in various TV shows and films, notably in the 2009 film “The Hangover.”
In a separate incident in April 2022, Tyson was involved in a confrontation on an airplane from San Francisco to Florida, where he reportedly struck a fellow passenger. The incident, caught on video by TMZ, led to police intervention, though no charges were filed. The San Mateo District Attorney’s Office later stated that they would not pursue charges due to “the circumstances surrounding the confrontation,” including the behavior of the victim prior to the incident and the mutual request from both parties not to press charges.
