Preparing for a fight can be dangerous.
Amanda Serrano’s anticipated main event fight in Puerto Rico took an unexpected turn due to a rather unusual circumstance.
On Saturday night, just before the main event was set to commence, a visibly emotional Serrano stepped into the ring and announced that she had not received medical clearance to compete, citing an eye injury.

Following the revelation, MVP promoter Nikasa Bidarian shed light on the bizarre incident. It was disclosed that Serrano had undergone a hair treatment the night prior, and during a subsequent run on Friday, some of the chemicals from her hair had inadvertently entered her eye. The discomfort persisted throughout the day, evident by Serrano’s choice to wear glasses during the pre-fight ceremonies. Despite her efforts to persuade the commission doctor otherwise, she was ultimately deemed unfit to fight.
The event, which garnered a gate of 1.5 million, will see full refunds issued to attendees as confirmed by Bidarian, expressing MVP’s commitment to ensuring fan satisfaction.
In light of the unfortunate circumstances, a tearful Serrano pledged to reschedule the fight for her hometown fans in Puerto Rico, with MVP also promising a complete refund to disappointed attendees.
Furthermore, it was revealed by Jake Paul that the chemical exposure not only affected Serrano’s eye but also resulted in burns to her cornea and hand, adding further complexity to the situation.
