There is currently no plan for a Mike & Fred show in the foreseeable future.
Fred Toucher, a Boston sports radio host, expressed his harsh disapproval of ESPN host Mike Greenberg during a recent episode of the “Toucher and Rich” show on Boston’s 98.5 The Sports Hub.
The conversation took an unexpected turn when the hosts noticed Greenberg, a renowned Jets fan, appearing on the screen during a discussion about the top threats to the defending champion Chiefs in the AFC, with the Jets surprisingly ranked at No. 1.
Toucher then revealed his personal issue with Greenberg, which was triggered by a Facebook article featuring Greenberg offering career advice that Toucher deemed as “asinine.”
“He’s dropping the facade when he’s talking, this isn’t friendly Greenberg, this is business, Greenberg. Listen to this no-talent pr–k,” Toucher said while diving deep into the media business. “This guy who is making all this money, listen to his advice: ‘If you’re not writing out your teases, you’re not hosting a show.’ He’s like, ‘You could be the funniest guy, the most interesting guy. You could know the most about sports. But it doesn’t mean anything if you’re not holding people over the breaks.’
“I said, ‘That is tremendous advice. If you’re the most interesting, funny person in the world, really it all comes down to your teases.’ What a hacky, dumb thing to say. Talk about a guy justifying his career. That’s your career, that you’ve written out teases for what’s coming up next?”
Toucher delved into the world of media business, criticizing Greenberg’s advice about writing teases.
He mocked Greenberg’s suggestion that teases are essential in hosting a show, asserting that it is a hacky and pointless aspect of a career.
He also questioned the significance of Greenberg’s salary, reported to be $6.5 million, and his overall likability among those in the industry.
Toucher’s co-hosts joined in on the criticism, with Jon Wallach sharing his experience working with Greenberg in the past and expressing his annoyance at Greenberg’s demanding nature and lack of utilization of the information provided to him.
“What a pain in the ass that guy was,” Wallach said. “He would come in on a show that he didn’t work on and ask me or the other interns to put him together — this is old-school photo copy, we had to print everything out, photocopying box scores from the night before from the newspaper, print out this massive stack of information that he would not refer to once during the show.”
Toucher replied: “If you require to do a radio show a dossier of material, you’re an idiot. And you’re never going to refer to it because it’s not necessary. You’re talking.”

Overall, Toucher and his co-hosts concluded that Greenberg’s success is solely dependent on the favor of a single person at ESPN, as they couldn’t find anyone else who shares the same admiration for him.
Toucher concluded that Greenberg’s justification of his career reflects his lack of talent.
It is worth noting that Toucher has a reputation for making controversial statements, including hanging up on an NHL reporter due to their accent and calling out his co-hosts for not checking up on him during his absence following throat surgery.
