Boston Celtics announcer Brian Scalabrine wasn’t a fan of a particular play involving Celtics star Jayson Tatum and the Miami Heat’s Caleb Martin during Game 1 of their playoff series on Sunday afternoon.
The Celtics easily took home the victory 114-94, but near the end of the game Tatum was involved in a play that had Scalabrine heated.
“Erik Spoelstra called a timeout with a 1:30 left down by 16, 30 seconds later that play happens… that looked shady to me.”

It’s certainly a bit of a reckless play on the part of Martin who virtually had no chance of securing the rebound without fouling Tatum on the play.
However, Martin’s initial reaction is to try and help Tatum up so it seems unlikely that his intention was to hurt him on the play.
Following the encounter, there was some pushing and shoving as Jaylen Brown go into Martin’s face, but nothing escalated beyond that.
The Celtics are certainly going to need Tatum and they can breathe a sigh of relief that he’s all good after the play.
Tatum was phenomenal in Game 1 as he put up a triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Heat will try to avoid going down 2-0 when they match-up against the Celtics in Boston for Game 2.
