“Bo Knows,” they say.
And indeed, one Auburn fan learned a valuable lesson on Wednesday: don’t push your luck with Bo Jackson, especially by thrusting a phone camera in his face.
During Auburn’s dominant 101-61 victory over No. 11 South Carolina in basketball, Bo Jackson, the Tigers’ revered football and basketball icon, found himself approached by a fan seeking a selfie.
However, instead of obliging, Jackson directed his attention back to the game, reportedly uttering a firm “no, watch the game” as he gestured toward the court. The disappointed fan retreated, realizing the error of his approach.

It’s understandable why Jackson might prioritize enjoying the game over impromptu photo ops. Particularly after facing health challenges that sidelined him from events like a statue unveiling for former baseball teammate Frank Thomas due to persistent hiccups since the previous July. Fortunately, Jackson underwent medical treatment to resolve the issue, alleviating his discomfort and enabling him to resume his activities.
Considering the ordeal Jackson endured, it’s no wonder he prefers to savor moments like Auburn basketball games without undue distractions. While he’s known for his kindness and approachability, his refusal of the selfie likely stemmed from a desire to simply immerse himself in the game.
Undoubtedly, the disappointed Auburn fan had hoped for a cherished memento, only to encounter a polite but firm refusal. Such is the unpredictable nature of encounters with sporting legends like Bo Jackson.
Remember, Bo Knows!
