Billy Eichner had a memorable run-in with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce during Madonna’s star-studded New Year’s Eve bash, and the comedian couldn’t help but share the amusing story on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night.
The “Billy on the Street” host, 46, described walking into the glitzy party and immediately noticing Kelce, 35, standing in the center of the room with his girlfriend, global superstar Taylor Swift. The pair, who have been dominating headlines since they began dating last year, were hard to miss among the A-list crowd.
Later in the night, Eichner felt what he described as “a very strong, bro-y pat on my shoulder.” Turning around, he found himself face-to-face with the towering NFL tight end. At 6 foot 3 inches himself, Eichner joked about the unusual experience of having to “look up” at someone.
“In a very loud, booming voice, in a house full of the most famous people in the world, Travis Kelce looks at me and says, ‘Jimmy on the Motherf–king Street, I love you, man,’” Eichner recounted with a laugh.
Kelce’s enthusiastic shout-out was a nod to Eichner’s viral comedy series Billy on the Street, though he hilariously got the name wrong. Eichner described Kelce as “beaming” with excitement and “so happy” during the interaction, which included multiple fist bumps throughout the evening.
“He said it with such confidence that I just couldn’t bring myself to correct him,” Eichner admitted, calling the football star “lovely” despite the mix-up.

Kelce, already a household name for his skills on the field, has seen his celebrity rise to new heights since his relationship with Swift became public.
The couple rang in 2023 in style, with Kelce later gushing about the New Year’s Eve celebration on his and brother Jason Kelce’s podcast, New Heights. He described the night as “cool” and “fun,” especially since it came on the heels of the Chiefs’ victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Photos from the event captured Kelce and Swift sharing a midnight kiss, solidifying their place as one of the most talked-about couples of the year. Since then, the duo has continued to make headlines, recently celebrating Thanksgiving together with their families.
As Swift wraps up her record-breaking Eras Tour, fans are already speculating about the couple’s plans for this holiday season.
Whether they’ll be at another celebrity-packed gathering or enjoying a quiet moment together, one thing is clear: wherever they go, Travis and Taylor are sure to keep us talking—and perhaps, misnaming a comedian or two along the way.
