Joe Burrow is setting his sights on a strong comeback year after his 2023 season was cut short by a wrist injury on his throwing hand, requiring surgery and sidelining him for the final seven games.
The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback is no stranger to overcoming significant injuries, having previously missed much of his rookie year due to a torn ACL and MCL.
During a minicamp media session on Tuesday, Burrow opened up about the psychological impact of his injuries. “Whenever the injuries start to stack up, you start to think about your football mortality. That’s definitely crossed my mind and it’s something I’ve had to work through,” he admitted.

Last season, the Bengals posted a 9-8 record and missed the playoffs.
As they aim to reestablish themselves as contenders this season, Burrow’s health will be crucial.
Since being selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft, Joe Burrow has dramatically reshaped the Cincinnati Bengals’ record books. In just four seasons, he has set franchise single-season records with 606 passing attempts and 414 completions in 2022, as well as a record 4,611 passing yards in 2021. His 35 touchdown passes in 2022 and a passer rating of 108.3 in 2021 are also team records.
Burrow has not only excelled in regular season play but has also set numerous Bengals postseason records. His leadership helped propel Cincinnati to Super Bowl LVI and a consecutive AFC Championship game appearance in 2022. Additionally, he currently holds the NFL’s highest career completion percentage of 67.97% (minimum 1500 passing attempts).
