Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is expressing discontent with his ex-head coach’s decisions.
In the latest episode of “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger,” he criticized the coaching during the recent loss to the New England Patriots, specifically pointing out issues with clock management and the depletion of timeouts due to avoidable penalties.

“At the end of that game, if we had one more timeout, we have another chance,” Roethlisberger said, via the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “When you lose timeouts because of silly penalties — too many men on the field, not enough men on the field — you can’t afford in the second half of games, to burn silly timeouts and not have them late in the game. To me, that is . . . that’s bad. It’s bad coaching.”
Roethlisberger emphasized the critical importance of maintaining timeouts for late-game opportunities. The Steelers’ lack of an extra timeout impacted their chances, leading to a 21-18 loss and a 7-6 season record.
Big Ben also said the Steelers are done, referencing their style of play.
“Maybe the tradition of the Pittsburgh Steelers is done.”
“This isn’t what has been handed down from those teams of the ‘70s. The Steel Curtain, the four Super Bowls, the Nolls, the Bradshaws, the Blounts. All those people, it’s unbelievable,” Roethlisberger said.
Roethlisberger’s public criticism exacerbates the challenges the team faces in the wake of recent losses. Taking potshots at the coaching staff doesn’t contribute positively to the situation.
