Mike Jones of The Athletic reports that high-ranking NFL officials have discussed potential coaching candidates, and Harbaugh is expected to be in consideration during the upcoming NFL head coaching cycle. The Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly expressed interest in him should he decide to leave Michigan. Jim was reportedly keeping tabs on the Chicago Bears situation should he decide to head back to NFL coaching.
Considering Harbaugh’s ability to establish a distinctive team style, particularly given his successful track record, the Bears would be wise to explore the possibility of hiring him. The Raiders, having recently parted ways with head coach Josh McDaniels, may also consider Harbaugh if they opt not to retain Antonio Pierce. Harbaugh has had previous discussions with the Raiders on multiple occasions.
Harbaugh’s coaching career includes a successful stint with the San Francisco 49ers from 2007 to 2014, during which he achieved a .695 winning percentage, ranking him fifth all-time behind Guy Chamberlain, John Madden, Vince Lombardi, and George Allen. In his four years with the 49ers, he led the team to a record of 44-19-1, securing three playoff appearances and an NFC Championship.
Given his proven experience and success at the highest level, there is little doubt that Harbaugh would be a highly capable coach in any NFL setting.
