Bears GM Ryan Poles Admits To Awful Habit That Bears Fans Are Going to Love to Hear

Ryan Poles is working overtime.

Ryan Poles, the General Manager of the Chicago Bears, recently spoke out about the harmful effects of his excessive work habits during his time with the team.

Looking back on his start with the Bears, Poles expressed remorse for taking his dedication to the extreme by sleeping in his office at Halas Hall.

As he assumed the role in 2022, Poles admitted that his decision to sleep in his office was driven by his unwavering commitment to maximizing preparation time for the highly anticipated 2022 NFL draft.

However, with further reflection, Poles now realizes that his extreme approach was not only unsustainable but also detrimental to his overall well-being.

During a conversation with ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, Poles admitted,

“That was not healthy doing that last year. I don’t ever want to go through that again.”

The NFL is known for its demanding and competitive nature, often requiring general managers and coaches to endure grueling work schedules in pursuit of victory.

This culture of relentless dedication and the belief that sacrificing personal health may lead to a competitive advantage is not uncommon in the league. However, Poles’ candid admission sheds light on the potential negative consequences of such practices.

While Poles initially believed that his intense work ethic was necessary to fulfill his responsibilities effectively, he now emphasizes the need for a more balanced approach. Recognizing that a healthier work-life balance is crucial for long-term success and personal well-being is a significant step in his professional growth.

Ryan Poles’ willingness to publicly acknowledge the adverse effects of his extreme work habits presents an opportunity for reflection and growth within the NFL.

By promoting healthier work practices and fostering a culture that values work-life balance, the league can improve the overall well-being and longevity of its personnel.
