Austin Rivers, the free agent NBA guard and son of Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers, went on ESPN’s NBA Today on Tuesday to respond to J.J. Redick’s criticism of his father.

Just as Bucks guard Pat Beverley did, Rivers said that he has “love” for the former NBA guard turned analyst but pointed out that “his best years were with Doc and the Clippers.”
“Your best years in the NBA were when you played for him and the Clippers. Let’s not forget that. I don’t know if there’s frustration there or there’s tension there between you. I know a lot of times we had to sit you toward the end of the game due to defensive reasons.”
This came in response to Redick saying that Doc Rivers “is always making excuses” on ESPN’s First Take.
The Bucks have struggled since Doc Rivers was surprisingly hired to replace head coach Adrian Griffin as they have a record of 3-6 with Rivers as head coach.
