The rumor linking former NFL quarterback Tom Brady to Donald Trump has persisted in the media for years.
This speculation was fueled during Brady’s time with the New England Patriots when a “Make America Great Again” cap was seen in his locker.
Tom Brady, however, has generally steered clear of public political declarations, understanding the potential backlash from either side.
In a 2022 interview, Brady reflected on the period when the hat was spotted, describing it as a time when he was much younger and excited about visiting a private golf course. “This was 17 or 18 years ago,” he noted, adding, “I think (the media) just mischaracterized a lot. There are things that I agree with. There are things that I don’t.”
The spotlight on Brady’s political leanings intensified when his former teammate, Antonio Brown, publicly disclosed Brady’s presidential preference before the 2024 US election. In a conversation with Jason Whitlock, Brown indicated that Brady favored Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Trump and Brady have publicly acknowledged their friendship in the past. Brady called Trump a “good friend” in a 2015 interview with WEEI, citing their long acquaintance. Meanwhile, Trump in 2016 praised Brady as a “great guy” and acknowledged his support.
When asked about his own political views and thoughts on Joe Biden, Brown swiftly expressed his support for Trump to Whitlock. “Nah, I like Donald Trump,” he said, according to Daily Mail. Brown critiqued Biden’s public appearances and expressed a preference for what he believes Trump could offer in terms of business support and leadership.
In the meantime, Tom Brady is set to begin a new chapter as Fox’s lead color analyst this fall. He has signed a massive 10-year, $375 million contract, making him the highest-paid sports commentator ever. Alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, Brady will feature in Fox’s prime game broadcasts each week starting in the 2024-2025 season.
