Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in their second-round playoff series against the defending champion Denver Nuggets after two dominant games at Ball Arena.
They are now gearing up for Game 3 back in Minnesota on Friday night.
Edwards, one of the NBA’s rising stars, was recently asked by a reporter about competing against some of the league’s seasoned players, particularly Jamal Murray of the Nuggets.
The reporter asked, “It’s gotta be fun to see all these OGs… Jamal [Murray’s] been around for a minute, is that a guy you’ve been tracking?”
Edwards responded with a light-hearted dismissal, “Hell naw. What is he, 27? I’m finna turn 23, dog. [Kevin Durant] is 36 or 35,” indicating that he doesn’t quite see Murray as an “OG” in the same way as older players like Durant.
“Come on, man,” he added, “It’s no disrespect to Jamal. I don’t know what you’re trying to start.”
So far in the series, Edwards has significantly outperformed Murray, averaging 35.0 points per game compared to Murray’s 12.5. Edwards aims to maintain his strong performance as the series moves to Minnesota for Game 3 on Friday night.
