Following Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Denver Nuggets, Anthony Edwards confidently informed a staffer in the Denver locker room that despite the Timberwolves facing elimination, he would return to Ball Arena for a decisive Game 7.
True to his word, the Timberwolves triumphed in Game 6 at the Target Center and secured a victory in Game 7, earning their first Western Conference finals berth since 2004.
Edwards’ prophetic streak continued after the Timberwolves clinched a 105–100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 4 of the conference finals.
With the series shifting back to Minneapolis for Game 5, Edwards assured Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons that they would meet again in Dallas for Game 6. Parsons, who was present at the American Airlines Center wearing a Luka Doncic jersey, had a brief conversation with Edwards post-game.
When questioned about his bold assertion, Edwards replied, “What am I supposed to say, that we’re going to lose Game 5? I would never say that.” He also mentioned that Parsons was sporting his signature AE1 sneakers and joked that if Parsons needed a pair, he’d bring him some in size 14 for Game 6.

Edwards, who had been underperforming with an average of 22 points in the first three games of the finals, turned around his performance in Game 4. He led with a game-high 29 points, shooting 11-of-25 from the field, and contributed 10 rebounds and nine assists.
The Timberwolves are set to face the Mavericks once more in Game 5, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET Thursday at the Target Center.
