Within a span of less than three weeks marked by legal troubles for the family, another brother of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr. has faced legal issues.
Jevon Porter, 20, who plays college basketball in Missouri, was arrested on suspicion of DWI and speeding. According to online records from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the arrest occurred around 1:30 a.m. on April 27 in Boone County, and he was subsequently released on a summons.
Jevon, listed in a Pepperdine University player bio as Michael Porter Jr.’s younger brother, now adds to a series of unfortunate events involving the Porter siblings.
On April 19, Coban Porter, another of Michael’s brothers, was sentenced to six years in prison by the Denver District Court. This sentence was handed down in connection to a fatal crash that occurred near the University of Denver in January 2023. During the sentencing, Coban admitted to being intoxicated when he ran a red light and collided with Katharina Rothman’s vehicle, resulting in her death and serious injuries to a passenger.
Additionally, in the same week as Coban’s sentencing, their sibling Jontay Porter was permanently banned from the NBA. Jontay, formerly with the Toronto Raptors, faced this severe sanction for violating league rules, which included disclosing confidential information to sports bettors, intentionally underperforming for betting purposes, and wagering on NBA games.
Amidst these familial challenges, Michael Porter Jr. has remained focused on his professional commitments with the Nuggets during the NBA playoffs.
