This draw meant that they needed a positive result against Portugal to progress. Fortunately, they managed to achieve a scoreless draw against Portugal, securing their place in the next round.
However, given the team’s talent and capabilities, both fans and analysts were disappointed by their performance, expecting a more impressive display. This disappointment was further fueled by the team’s actions after the game, as some players were seen dancing and signing autographs.
Rob Stone and Carli Lloyd from Fox Sports expressed their dissatisfaction with the team’s conduct, with Lloyd stating, “I have never witnessed something like that. There’s a difference between being respectful of the fans and saying hello to your family, but to be dancing, to be smiling…you’re lucky to not be going home right now.”

Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, and Crystal Dunn were among the players seen celebrating after the final whistle. As the USWNT awaits the finalization of the round of 16 matchups, it is clear that significant changes will need to be made if they want to secure a third consecutive World Cup victory.
