LSU’s quest for consecutive national championships came to an end on Monday with a loss to Iowa in the Elite Eight, prompting Angel Reese to reflect on the past two years.
Although Reese and her teammates secured the title in 2023, she recalls facing unfair criticism and disrespect throughout their journey, particularly following last season’s matchup against Iowa.
Speaking emotionally to the media after Monday’s game, Reese, who has declared for the WNBA Draft, issued a clear message to her detractors on social media: “Make sure that apology is as loud as the disrespect.”

As the reigning SEC player of the year and a multi-time All-American, Reese is poised to transition into the next phase of her basketball career upon being selected in the upcoming WNBA Draft later this month.
With a stellar tenure at LSU under her belt, Reese is widely regarded as a first-round pick in what is considered one of the most talented rookie classes in league history.
Expressing her anticipation for the challenges ahead, Reese emphasized her eagerness to embark on her WNBA journey, embracing the opportunity to learn and grow as a professional athlete.
“I want to be a rookie again and build myself back up; I want to be knocked down and learn and grow at the next level,” Reese shared with Vogue after announcing her draft decision. “I’ll be working with women that have kids, women that have a family to feed. I’m going to have to work my butt off every single day and grind. And who wouldn’t want that? I don’t want anything in my life to be easy.”
On April 15th, Reese will discover which team she will join as she embarks on the next chapter of her basketball journey during the WNBA Draft.
