Chicago just landed another high profile athlete.
Caleb Williams and Angel Reese are both embarking on their professional sports careers in Chicago, with the Bears drafting quarterback Williams as the first overall pick, and the Sky selecting former LSU standout Reese at No. 7 overall last week.
Reese, arriving in Chicago first, extended a warm welcome to the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner via social media. She excitedly posted, “DMV TIES! LET’S TURN THE CITY UP!! CONGRATS GANG! @CALEBcsw,” as the first round neared its conclusion.

Chicago sports fans have much to anticipate with the arrival of these two top-tier college talents, and with the NBA Draft still on the horizon, the excitement continues to build.
Following her draft by the Sky, Reese jerseys quickly became a hot commodity, selling rapidly. Meanwhile, Williams has already set new records for draft-night jersey sales, surpassing the mark set by Caitlin Clark just a week prior.
Reese expressed enthusiasm about her future with the Sky and the positive momentum in the WNBA. “I think we’re going up right now. Being able to see so many different things with the networks, with the ticket sales, with the jersey sales, like, I think we’re in a really great direction and having support from your vets is amazing,” she commented to reporters.
On the other hand, Williams has been vocal about the appealing culture of the Bears, which played a significant role in his excitement about joining the team. “A big reason is I believe the culture that’s been building,” he explained in a Zoom call, citing the coaching staff and fan support as key influences.
The Bears are positioning Williams for success, having traded for receiver Keenan Allen earlier in the offseason and drafting another top receiver, Rome Udonze, at No. 9. With more picks still to come in the draft, the team looks to bolster its roster further.
