The 2024 WNBA regular season has entered a hiatus as players and fans turn their attention to the upcoming Summer Olympics.
Scheduled to begin on Friday night, the Olympics promise to be a highlight of the year for sports enthusiasts worldwide. The WNBA wrapped up its All-Star Weekend in Phoenix with exciting events on Friday and Saturday night, where stars like Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark shone brightly.
With the Olympics on the horizon, WNBA players not participating in the Games are now enjoying a break.
However, Angel Reese’s vacation got off to a rocky start when she lost her luggage en route to Paris. Despite the setback, Reese remained optimistic. “They lost our bags & said we only get ‘$100 in euros’ to shop until they find them but we made it to Paris,” she shared on social media.

Reese, along with Caitlin Clark and other WNBA players, is eager to watch Team USA compete in the Summer Olympics. The team boasts impressive talent, and expectations are high.
Reflecting on the team’s capabilities, Clark commented, “They’re really good. They have plenty of talent on that team. Four years prior I’m pretty sure Team WNBA beat Team USA, and they were perfectly fine in the Olympics. If anything, it shows how good this league is. It shows how much talent is in this league and how you have to show up and prepare every single night. There’s a lot of players that aren’t even here tonight that could be here too. It just shows the amount of talent we have.”
NBC and Peacock will provide comprehensive coverage of the Summer Olympics, starting on Friday evening. As the world prepares for the Games, the spotlight will be on the athletes competing for glory on the international stage.
For WNBA fans and players alike, this pause in the season is an opportunity to celebrate the best in women’s basketball and cheer on Team USA as they strive for Olympic gold.
