The New York Jets found themselves in a quarterback quandary on Monday night when Aaron Rodgers left his team debut against the Buffalo Bills due to an ankle injury.
Following Rodgers’ injury, Zach Wilson stepped in and eventually led the team to a 22-16 victory. However, this turn of events ignited speculation on social media about potential quarterback options for the Jets, either to start or compete with Wilson.
Names like Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Tom Brady, and Joe Flacco were suggested as possibilities. Colin Kaepernick’s name was also thrown into the mix, and on a side note, retired quarterback Andrew Luck was mentioned, coincidentally on his 34th birthday.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh mentioned after the game that he believed Rodgers had suffered an Achilles injury. At present, Wilson remains the team’s QB1.
Nonetheless, it appears Rodgers may be sidelined for the remainder of the season and, potentially, for his career. While the idea of Andrew Luck returning would be remarkable, it seems like wishful thinking given that his retirement was prompted by injury concerns.
