The Taylor Swift fervor is reaching new heights, especially in the skies.
Whether you’re a dedicated Swiftie or a loyal member of Chiefs Kingdom looking for flights from Kansas City to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl or simply to be in town, American Airlines has taken notice and introduced some flight numbers that are sure to capture your attention.
Flight 1989 is set to operate twice from Kansas City to Las Vegas on Feb. 9 and Feb. 10, a nod to the year Taylor Swift was born. Following the game, Flight 87 departs from Las Vegas to Kansas City, paying homage to Travis Kelce’s jersey No. 87.
“In our football era, and we are thrilled to provide additional direct flights from Kansas City to Las Vegas,” said American Airlines in a statement to The Associated Press. “To our customers who are huge sports fans, look what you made us do.”

Expanding beyond Swift and Kelce, there are three Flight 15 options, coincidentally matching quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ jersey number.
Flight 15 from Kansas City to Las Vegas is scheduled for Feb. 8, and there’s also Flight 1521, combining the numbers of Mahomes and safety Mike Edwards.
This clever marketing move by American Airlines aligns with the NFL’s recognition of Taylor Swift’s significant impact on drawing more attention and revenue to the league.
As Swift heads to Japan for four shows of her Eras Tour before presumably flying back for the big game on February 11th, it’s clear that the intersection of music and sports continues to provide innovative opportunities for brands.
