If you needed any more proof of the Detroit Lions’ rising excitement, just look at what’s been happening since they shocked everyone by defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in their home opener.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson is calling on Lions fans to join him in wearing a particular piece of attire during Sunday’s home opener against the Seahawks.

In his first season as a defensive back with the Detroit Lions, C.J. Gardner-Johnson got a taste of the energy his team’s fans can bring to a game when thousands of them filled the boisterous Arrowhead Stadium.
“From what I’ve seen in the crowd,” Gardner-Johnson told reporters, “we probably have the most passionate fans in the game. They talk trash, they feed off us, they yell the loudest. Even in a game like the one in K.C., which was technically a home game for them, they showed up for the Lions. They just love their team, so I think the more we win, the more we’ll see true Lions fans.”
After their victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was spotted wearing a blue ski mask. He’s now encouraging fans to adopt this style while cheering on their team in the upcoming home opener.
“You’re going to see blue ski masks everywhere on Sunday,” Gardner-Johnson declared.
“It’s about our culture. I’m helping to change it,” he explained when asked why fans should embrace this attire.
Many wondered why the veteran chose Detroit after failing to secure a long-term deal with the Eagles, but it’s clear that he made the right decision and has seamlessly fit into the Lions’ environment.
Gardner-Johnson came close to grabbing a couple of interceptions against the Chiefs. As the Lions prepare to face Seattle on Sunday, he’s determined to make those plays and secure those takeaways.
“Watching Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football got me fired up,” the former Eagles defensive back remarked. “You see teams fall behind, but in the NFL, it’s a 17-week season, so there’s time to get back on track. I’m not overly concerned about interceptions. My focus is on winning games, keeping my coaches and teammates happy, and the rest will follow. Respect the game, and the game will respect you.”
