Twelve individuals who were hospitalized after the shooting incident at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade on Wednesday have been discharged.
A spokesperson for Children’s Mercy Hospital confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that all 12 patients from the shooting, including nine children treated for gunshot wounds and two children treated for other injuries, were released on Saturday.
“We have great news to share — all patients have been discharged from Children’s Mercy,” a hospital official stated, declining further press conferences or interviews for the weekend.
The hospital had previously announced treating nine children with gunshot wounds, all expected to fully recover, during a news briefing on Wednesday.
The shooting, occurring near Union Station in Kansas City, Mo., resulted in one fatality, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a radio DJ for KKFI 90.1 FM. Police confirmed her identity and stated that at least half of the injured individuals were under 16 years old, ranging in age from 8 to 47 years old.
Initially, three juveniles were detained, but one was later released after investigation. On Friday, police announced gun-related and resisting arrest charges against two juveniles in connection with the shooting, withholding their identities due to their minor status.
Police Chief Stacey Graves emphasized that the shooting was not linked to terrorism but stemmed from a dispute between individuals that escalated into gunfire.
Despite the tragedy, Graves expressed gratitude for the swift response from law enforcement during a press conference on Thursday.
