Disney is taking a stand against Elon Musk. ESPN’s presence on X has been noticeably inactive since Friday, following Disney’s decision to cease advertising on the platform.
This move stems from Elon Musk’s endorsement of posts from antisemitic and white supremacy accounts. A Media Matters report highlights Musk’s posts and ads appearing alongside content celebrating the Third Reich and Adolf Hitler.
The primary ESPN account, along with those affiliated with programs like NBA on ESPN, First Take, NFL on ESPN, and ESPN Plus, has refrained from posting, responding, or engaging with content since Friday. Even though a few accounts remain active on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, major Disney-owned accounts, including Marvel Entertainment, have also remained silent.

In solidarity with the strike, other prominent companies such as Apple, Warner Bros. Discovery, IBM, and Comcast/NBCUniversal have chosen to go dark on X.
It’s worth noting that the ESPN X account did recently repost a tweet from one of their reporters.
