This week, the Washington Commanders have been actively assessing potential quarterback prospects, hosting Jayden Daniels from LSU, Drake Maye from North Carolina, JJ McCarthy from Michigan, and Michael Penix Jr. from Washington on Tuesday and Wednesday.
These quarterbacks are part of a broader group of prospects under consideration by the team.
While the Chicago Bears are widely expected to select USC’s Caleb Williams first overall, this leaves Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and J.J. McCarthy as possible picks for the Commanders.
In a notable development, Jayden Daniels was seen at the airport being picked up by Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn and subsequently met by general manager Adam Peters, who was ready in an SUV. This has fueled speculation about Daniels being a top choice for the Commanders.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic reports that the Washington Commanders are leaning towards picking LSU’s Jayden Daniels with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
However, Brugler also notes that the situation could change as the draft night on April 25th approaches, maintaining an element of unpredictability.
The situation within the Commanders’ camp remains tight-lipped, with GM Adam Peters, who was appointed in January, not revealing much about the team’s draft strategy. Nonetheless, the recent sighting of Daniels with team officials suggests a potential direction for the Commanders as they aim to rebuild more successfully under Peters’ leadership.
Jayden Daniels, who started his collegiate career at Arizona State in 2019 and transferred to LSU in 2022, has an impressive resume. After two seasons as LSU’s starting quarterback, Daniels won the Heisman Trophy in 2023. His college career statistics include a win-loss record of 37-18, 12,750 passing yards with a 66.3 percent completion rate, 89 passing touchdowns, 20 interceptions, 3,307 rushing yards, and 34 rushing touchdowns.
These achievements make Daniels a highly desirable quarterback for any NFL team, including the Washington Commanders.
