New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, despite only playing four snaps this season, has been honored with the Dennis Byrd Award, presented to the most “inspirational player” on the Jets. The award is voted on by the players, reflecting the impact Rodgers has had on the team’s locker room, as acknowledged by Jets head coach Robert Saleh.
Saleh praised Rodgers’ positive attitude, presence, and influence on his teammates throughout the season.
The Jets acquired Rodgers through a trade, receiving the quarterback along with the Packers’ 2023 first-round pick (No. 15 overall) and a fifth-round pick (No. 170). In return, the Packers obtained the Jets’ 2023 first-rounder (No. 13), 2023 second-round (No. 42), and sixth-round (No. 207) picks. Additionally, the trade included a conditional 2024 second-round selection, potentially escalating to a first-round pick if Rodgers participated in at least 65 percent of the Jets’ snaps during the season.
However, this scenario did not unfold, as Rodgers played only four snaps before succumbing to an Achilles injury.
With Rodgers potentially becoming the starting quarterback for the Jets next season, the team looks forward to his continued positive influence on and off the field.
