Adele is clearly a big fan of the Summer Olympics.
During the 16-time Grammy award winner’s concert on Saturday in Munich, Germany, Adele took a break from her setlist to broadcast the women’s 100-meter sprint final in Paris on the big screen.
The race featured American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, who was on a redemption run after being suspended for testing positive for THC (cannabis), a banned substance under the World Anti-Doping Agency Rules.
Adele’s fans erupted in cheers, with many pulling out their cell phones to record the moment. Despite Richardson’s dominance in the opening-round heat on Friday with a time of 10.94 seconds, Adele, her fans, and viewers worldwide watched as the American runner took silver with a 10.87 run. Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred clinched the gold, winning the island nation’s first-ever Olympic medal. Fellow American Melissa Jefferson earned bronze.
