Adam Schefter shared his insights on the Washington Commanders’ potential draft strategy during his latest podcast, hinting at where they might be leaning with the No. 2 pick.
While discussing the Chicago Bears’ likely selection of Caleb Williams at No. 1, Schefter turned his focus to Washington, suggesting that it’s “hard for me” to envision them passing on Jayden Daniels.
“I think the signs continue to point to Jayden Daniels being the second overall pick,” Schefter remarked. “He’s gained popularity in the scouting community and possesses attributes that align with what the Commanders are seeking.”

If Daniels indeed goes to Washington, Schefter speculates that the New England Patriots could target North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye with the third overall pick.
Schefter also noted a significant interest between Daniels and the Las Vegas Raiders, although they don’t pick until No. 13.
While the Commanders appear poised to select a quarterback, the specific choice remains uncertain. Despite Daniels and Maye being the frontrunners, speculation persists about J.J. McCarthy’s potential rise in the draft rankings.
Daniels, who amassed 50 touchdowns during a Heisman-worthy campaign at LSU, has drawn attention from his former coach Brian Kelly, who believes he could land in Washington.
Additionally, the Commanders are reportedly hosting Daniels for a top-30 visit, indicating a serious consideration of him as their top pick.
