FX’s portrayal of Steph Curry in their new TV show has him looking less like himself and more like someone else entirely.
The highly-anticipated FX miniseries “Clipped” debuted this week on Hulu. “Clipped” is a dramatic adaptation of the 2014 scandal that resulted in LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling being permanently banned from the NBA. The series draws from Ramona Shelburne’s ESPN 30 for 30 podcast “The Sterling Affairs.”
While “Clipped” has received largely positive reviews, the choice to cast the Golden State Warriors star Curry sparked a unanimous backlash on social media. Given the Warriors’ rivalry with the Clippers during that period and their clash in the playoffs when the Sterling scandal unfolded, it was expected that Golden State would be featured in “Clipped.”

However, the decision to cast Curry has been widely criticized. The actor playing him bears little resemblance to Curry. This mismatch led to numerous humorous comparisons online, with some suggesting the actor looked more like Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott than Curry.
Similar casting issues were noted for Klay Thompson, another key Warriors player.
The series requires some suspension of disbelief, especially with Ed O’Neill as Donald Sterling and Laurence Fishburne as Doc Rivers. However, given Curry’s well-known youthful appearance during that time, the casting could have been more accurate.
The actor portraying Curry isn’t listed on the show’s IMDB page yet. This casting choice might be remembered as one of the more questionable decisions in recent television history.
