Sounds like the Packers players are trying to pump up their new QB.
Romeo Doubs, a Green Bay Packers wide receiver, has voiced unwavering trust in the team’s new starting quarterback, Jordan Love, claiming that Love is capable of accomplishing the same feats as future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.
Doubs’ comments, which were made a few weeks ago, have drawn attention as the Packers make significant changes following Rodgers’ departure earlier this offseason.
“Jordan can do it,” said second-year receiver Romeo Doubs. “When you go from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan, Aaron was a really great quarterback, but I believe Jordan can do the same exact thing. I don’t really see what’s the big difference.”
“Best QB in the league,” cornerback Jaire Alexander said.
The Packers’ 2020 first-round draft pick and fourth-year player, Jordan Love, will take over as the team’s new quarterback after over 15 seasons with Rodgers. Love has received praise from his teammates throughout the offseason, with Doubs stating that there is no significant difference between Love and Rodgers.
Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander has called Love the “Best QB in the league,” further fueling the excitement surrounding the young quarterback. However, Love’s limited professional experience, with under 100 pass attempts across his three-year NFL career, has led teammates to assess his potential and abilities primarily during practice sessions.
As a promising but raw prospect chosen by the Packers in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Love displayed impressive skills during his college career at Utah State.
Under head coach Mike LaFleur’s leadership, it is anticipated that Love will adopt a balanced offensive approach with a deliberate pace, similar to Rodgers’ style, but lacking some of Rodgers’ inspiration.
“He’s shown progress almost on a daily basis,” LaFleur said. “But it’s going to be important and incumbent on himself to just show that initiative and stay in his playbook.”
As the Green Bay Packers enter a new era with Jordan Love at the helm, comparisons to the departed Aaron Rodgers are bound to arise. Doubs and his teammates remain confident in Love’s capabilities and draw parallels between him and the former MVP.
Nonetheless, only time will tell if Love can effectively fill the shoes left by the legendary Aaron Rodgers.
