The 39-year-old quarterback was placed on the injured reserve list after the team’s Monday night game against the Buffalo Bills, effectively sidelining him for the remainder of the season.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Rodgers personally addressed the injury for the first time, expressing gratitude to all those who had reached out to him through various means. He acknowledged the overwhelming support he had received and described his emotional journey, admitting to feeling completely heartbroken while also touched and humbled by the outpouring of love. He requested that others keep him in their thoughts and prayers as he embarked on the healing process.
Rodgers concluded his post by celebrating his team’s 22-16 victory over the Bills, exhibiting his resilience with the statement, “The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again. Proud of my guys, 1-0 ??.”
The injury occurred early in the first quarter when Rodgers was sacked by Bills linebacker Leonard Floyd. He had to be assisted off the field and subsequently underwent an MRI.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh expressed his deep empathy for the football star, acknowledging Rodgers’ significant investment in the organization, his teammates, the fan base, and the city.
