Is Aaron Rodgers ready to ride off into the sunset?
When the New York Jets acquired Aaron Rodgers in April, concerns arose that it would only be a temporary arrangement.
However, Rodgers is looking to provide clarity on the situation.
During his appearance on the DiPietro & Rothenberg Show yesterday, he expressed his commitment to the Jets, stating that he feels indebted to them and intends to stay for more than just one season.
Nevertheless, he mentioned the possibility of reconsidering if the 2023 season proves to be exceptional.
According to Rodgers:
“The Jets made significant sacrifices for me, so it would be unfair to only play for one year. However, if that one year turns out to be extraordinary, anything can happen.”

As of now, Rodgers is contracted with the Jets for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, albeit with a staggering cap number of over $100 million in 2024.
Therefore, negotiations must occur well in advance of the next league year. Ultimately, the Jets will only benefit from this trade if they manage to reach the Super Bowl for the first time in over half a century.
Failure to achieve this feat would be deemed a major setback by the organization, potentially resulting in the dismissal of the general manager and head coach and initiating another lengthy rebuilding phase. The success or failure of Rodgers’ time with the Jets could ultimately shape his entire legacy.
