On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Aaron Rodgers did not attend the New York Jets’ mandatory minicamp, an absence that head coach Robert Saleh classified as unexcused.
By Wednesday morning, further details emerged that Rodgers would miss the entire minicamp due to his preference to spend time away from football.
This update was provided by Dianna Russini of The Athletic, noting that the decision was made by Rodgers himself.

The news has sparked a variety of reactions across NFL media and fans alike.
Last year, the Jets and Green Bay Packers finalized a significant trade that brought the four-time NFL MVP quarterback to New York.
According to ESPN, the Jets received Rodgers, the No. 15 overall pick, and a fifth-round pick in 2023. In exchange, the Packers acquired the No. 13 overall pick, a second-round pick, a sixth-round pick in the same year, and a conditional 2024 second-round pick that could convert to a first-round pick if Rodgers participates in at least 65% of the plays this upcoming season.
Rodgers had spent his entire 18-year career with Green Bay prior to the trade, amassing 475 touchdowns, just 105 interceptions, over 5,000 completions, and more than 59,000 passing yards.
His career includes ten seasons with at least 4,000 passing yards. In contrast, the Jets have only seen such a season once, with Joe Namath in 1967.
