Aaron Rodgers may be one of the oldest players in the NFL, but he is reportedly bringing a sense of “youthfulness” to the Jets.
According to Solomon Thomas, a defensive tackle for the Jets, Rodgers has provided a change to the team’s environment. Thomas noted that “the room is buzzing” and that adding a Hall of Famer like Rodgers is sure to have a positive impact.
“The room is buzzing right now—the building is buzzing—and it’s buzzing for a reason,” Thomas added.
“You bring in a solidified Hall of Famer like Aaron Rodgers and it’s going to change some things. His leadership, his knowledge, the way he plays the game—you know he’s going to put up points and you know he’s going to play smart football.”
The Jets, who have not made the playoffs since 2010, are hoping that Rodgers’ arrival will help turn the team’s fortunes around. Rodgers, who was eager to leave the Packers, seems to be thriving in New York and has been seen attending local events and shows.
Bookmakers currently rank the Jets as having the seventh-best odds to win the Super Bowl next season.
Fans will get their first glimpse of Rodgers in a Jets uniform during a Monday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills on September 11th.
