Aaron Rodgers is steadily making progress in his recovery from Achilles surgery, but the future Hall of Fame quarterback recently acknowledged that the road to full recovery hasn’t been entirely smooth. While the New York Jets star continues to heal, he admitted he’s still facing some “difficulties” as he works through the rehabilitation process.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the Jets’ Week 4 matchup, Rodgers opened up about his ongoing recovery, noting that while he’s feeling better each week, there are still challenges with his surgically repaired Achilles. “I can’t say I’m bereft of some difficulties with the Achilles, but it’s a process,” Rodgers shared. “I feel better [from] Week 1 to Week 2, Week 2 to Week 3, and then we got a nice little gift there with the long weekend, so I feel better.”
Rodgers pointed out that while his recovery is on track, it hasn’t been without setbacks. “I said after Week 1 I felt like I was going to progress and be able to move around a little bit more. I did that maybe a little bit against Tennessee, and then obviously moved around a lot more effectively in Week 3,” Rodgers added, highlighting the gradual improvements he’s made since the injury.

As the season progresses, Jets fans are starting to see glimpses of the elite quarterback they hoped they were getting when Rodgers joined the team. His performance has been steadily improving week by week, signaling that he’s getting closer to his usual MVP-level play.
Through the first three games of the season, Rodgers has completed 67.4% of his passes for 624 yards, five touchdowns, and only one interception.
The Jets, now riding a two-game winning streak, are looking to extend their momentum as they prepare to face the Denver Broncos in Week 4. The game is set for Sunday, September 29, at 1 p.m. EST. This matchup may carry extra significance for Rodgers, as it comes on the heels of his public feud with Broncos head coach Sean Payton.
Earlier in the summer, Payton made critical comments about Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett’s tenure as head coach of the Broncos in 2022, sparking a war of words between Rodgers and Payton.
While Rodgers’ focus remains on his own recovery and the Jets’ success, his return to top form is highly anticipated by both fans and teammates. The Jets acquired Rodgers in hopes that he would lead them to playoff contention, and despite the Achilles injury, his progress suggests that he’s moving closer to delivering on that potential.
For now, Jets fans are optimistic that their quarterback’s continued improvement will translate into success on the field, even as he navigates the lingering challenges of his Achilles rehab.
