The New York Jets quarterback recently unveiled his second tattoo—a Chinese dragon intricately looping over itself to form the number “8,” representing his current jersey number. On each side of the dragon, the words “two” and “twelve” are inscribed, serving as references to his birthday on December 2nd and his former jersey number while playing for the Green Bay Packers.
The artist behind this distinctive design is Balazs Bercsenyi, a Brooklyn-based Hungarian artist who also created Rodgers’ initial tattoo. The first tattoo featured two lions, constellations, and other symbolic imagery.
Earlier this week, Rodgers expressed his desire to return to the field from Achilles surgery on Christmas Eve against the Washington Commanders, but this plan has been ruled out.
Since suffering an Achilles tear in the opening drive of the 2023 season, Rodgers has been diligently working towards returning before the 2024 campaign. Despite facing a significant setback, he has showcased a remarkable recovery, prompting the Jets to open his 21-day practice window last week. However, his return hinges on both his health and the Jets’ playoff contention status.
With New York’s playoff hopes hanging by a thread following a recent loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Rodgers, true to his style, seems to be sending a message through his tattoo.
