On Thursday night, Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets, shared an update on his recent surgery to repair his torn left Achilles tendon via his Instagram Stories. The post featured a photo of Rodgers in high spirits, wearing a blue medical cap and gown, while lying in a hospital bed with visible bruising on his left foot.
Rodgers expressed gratitude for the surgery’s success, which was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, a renowned orthopedic surgeon based in Los Angeles known for his work with numerous professional athletes throughout his career. In his Instagram post, Rodgers wrote, “Surgery went exceptionally well yesterday. Thank you for all the love, prayers, and support. Special thanks to the incredible Dr. ElAttrache and his dedicated staff for initiating my path to recovery.”

Unfortunately, Rodgers is sidelined for the entire season due to the Achilles tendon injury sustained during his debut with the Jets in a Monday night game, which they won 22-16 in overtime against Buffalo.
In his first public comments shared on Instagram on Wednesday, the 39-year-old quarterback expressed his deep disappointment and emotional journey following the injury, adding a hopeful note: “The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again.”
Despite the long and challenging road to recovery and rehabilitation ahead, Rodgers’ recent post suggests that he may not be ready to retire from his football career just yet.
Jets coach Robert Saleh mentioned on Wednesday that Rodgers was undergoing medical consultations to determine his next steps. As it turns out, the four-time MVP opted for surgery later that same day.
Both Saleh and the Jets’ offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett, who is a close friend of Rodgers, believe that it’s unlikely Rodgers would conclude his playing career in this manner. Hackett emphasized Rodgers’ determination, saying, “Oh, absolutely. When Aaron sets his mind on something, it’s not easy to change his resolve.”
With Rodgers sidelined, Zach Wilson will assume the role of the starting quarterback and lead the Jets in their upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
