On Tuesday, March 12, news surfaced just one day after the NFL’s free agency period began on Monday, March 11, revealing that independent Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was contemplating Aaron Rodgers as a potential running mate.
Rodgers, a 40-year-old part-time quarterback and full-time conspiracy theorist, known for his recent speculations about a secret civilization called “Tartaria,” has yet to publicly address the reports regarding his potential partnership with RFK Jr.
Despite Rodgers’ silence, NFL fans speculate on the timing of the news, pointing to a personality trait recognized in Rodgers in recent years: his penchant for attention-seeking behavior.
“Aaron Rodgers showed restraint, waiting until the second day of free agency to leak that he might be running for vice president when the Jets aren’t adding talent. Progress! Growth!” read one viral tweet with over 150,000 views.

The irony of Rodgers reportedly considering a political venture with RFK Jr. is not lost, given his previous comments to Pat McAfee earlier this year, urging the New York Jets to focus solely on football matters.
“Anything that doesn’t have anything to do with winning needs to be assessed,” Rodgers told McAfee in January. “Everything we do has to have a purpose to it… the bulls— that has nothing to do with winning has to get out of the building.”
Since his trade to the New York Jets in April 2023, Rodgers has faced setbacks, including a season-ending Achilles injury just four plays into the 2023 campaign. Reports from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini depict a troubling culture within the Jets organization, characterized by “excuse-making, a paranoid head coach, an ill-equipped offensive coordinator, and an organizational tunnel vision on the quarterback.”
Rodgers’ potential political aspirations may serve as a means to exert pressure on the Jets to make significant moves in the free agency market, particularly concerning their lack of additions to the offensive line, a concern echoed by much of their fanbase.
